In Chalon-sur-Saône, the site immediately asserted itself through its generosity and its unique landscape characteristics. To reduce land consumption and avoid flood-prone areas along the Saône River, the project focuses on compactness. It takes advantage of this unique situation by proposing a quayside landscape, with the creation of a vast body of water and a green corridor marking the historical development axis of the city.
On the facade, a subtle play of pixelation references the geometric patterns of Burgundian roofs with glazed tiles. This “all-over” pattern, which declines a range of gray-green tones, allows us to forget the notion of openings and offers only a unitary and dappled skin to view. Once the threshold is crossed, the cold colors of the peripheral facade give way to a warm and caressing light reflected by the orange-yellow facades of the patios. These warm colors are also found in the treatment of the interior spaces and the signage.
